Introducing Our Studio’s Leadership Team!

We are excited to unveil the dynamic duo leading our new gaming studio to success: Patrick Derbic and Kevin “Slikey” Carstens. With Patrick stepping into the role of CEO and Slikey taking on the responsibilities of CTO, our studio is in excellent hands.

Patrick and Slikey are no strangers to success. Their incredible work on the Hypixel Minecraft server and the development of Hytale has showcased their exceptional talent and dedication. Their player-focused mindset and relentless passion for creating immersive gaming experiences have set them apart in the industry.

Not only are they exceptional leaders, but they also have a remarkable ability to attract and inspire some of the most talented and hardworking individuals we’ve ever had the pleasure to work with. We have no doubt that their leadership will drive our studio to new heights, delivering games that captivate and delight players around the world.

Stay tuned for more updates as we embark on this exciting journey!

First Team Members!

We are also thrilled to announce the first team members of our studio: Nick “Zero” Drabsch and Mewen “Mew” Page. These two incredibly strong programmers bring a deep understanding of game development and everything associated with it.

Mew’s focus will be on our high-level game systems, ensuring we are set up to create content for all of you to enjoy. He is the right person to develop game systems that feel just right for our players.

Zero’s focus will be to ensure that our engine runs smoothly, our builds are stable, and that online service integration is seamless - while also contributing significantly to game development.

Initial Plan

Our goal is to start with a game that might not be the most complex you’ve ever seen but is executed exceptionally well. We want to prove that this team is capable of handling the end-to-end game development process, all the way to release. We owe it to our future community, our investors, our team, and ourselves.

We have a few ideas for our first game, but it’s too early to share details. We’ll discuss it more once we have a clearer vision.

Engine Decision

While our leadership team was settling in, Slikey evaluated different engines for their fit. After in-depth research and comparison, we have settled on Unreal Engine to set us up for Game #1 and beyond.

Next Steps

As we determine the design for our first game, we are also looking for a studio name and crafting our hiring strategy to stay true to our shared values.
